ROBOTICS FOR BUILDING INDUSTRY

Cartesian robot plastering applicator INTONAX 2002 XP video.

In this film of approximately 15 minutes in the first section we see Intonax go through a complete cycle of work: First it sprays premixed plaster onto a section of wall, Intonax is fed by a plaster pump (with screw and hopper / silo) supplying 30 litres a minute. Then the robot puts the pump on standby and with its 'arm' tilted at an angle to the wall, it performs the 'ruling off' phase. This is followed by the smoothing phase with the 'arm' in a horizontal position. The result is a perfectly flat vertical plane, thereby avoiding contestation at the end of the job.
The next section shows the control panel and programming of the robot which is simple and intuitive - no need to learn ISO programming (robot / machine language). The video shows an 'auto diagnosis' process with alarms to instantaneously reset alignment. It also shows a screen shot of 'historical data', the robot records every cycle performed hourly, daily, weekly, monthly etc. which can be reviewed or even sent back to the office in the case of several machines working on different building sites.
The final clip shows the robot using two pumps both supplying 30 litres of premix a minute, thereby applying a litre a second to the wall. To apply plaster to 6 m² (2 x 3 m) requires just 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Work phases and time sheet to plaster a room 4 x 4 with 3 m ceiling (48 m²)

Position Intonax robot in the centre of room. 2 minutes.
Coupling operating head. 3 minutes.
Positioning and alignment to the wall. 1 minute.
Automatic 'Plumb line' inbuilt servo sensors accurate to within 100th of a degree. 1 minute.
Automatic Spraying phase. 2.5 minutes.

Two spray heads working in conjunction with two pumps supplying a total of 60 lt/m to section of wall 2 x 3 m or 6 m²).

Automatic 'Rule off'. 1 minute.
(In this phase Intonax's 'rule' or 'arm' is tilted for filling dips).
Automatic Smoothing / finish 1 minute.
(In this phase Intonax's 'arm/rule' returns to horizontal).
Repositioning and alignment to the wall. min. 1
Automatic 'plumb line' 1 minute.
Automatic Spraying phase. 2.5 minutes.
Automatic 'Rule off'. 1 minute.
Automatic 'Smooth / finish'. 1 minute.
Rotation of 90 degrees for second wall 3 minutes.
Time for the second wall of the room of 4 metres. 15 minutes.
Time for the third wall of the room of 4 metres 15 minutes.
Time for the fourth wall of the room of 4 meters. 15 minutes.
Repositioning robot in the centre of room. 2 minutes.
Uncoupling the operating head applied to the undercarriage 3 minutes.
Total time in order to complete room of approximately 48m². 60 / 70 minutes
Completing a room of 48 m² in 1 hour with two plasterers equates to a daily production rate of 400 m² or alternatively 200 m² per man.

N.B. In the above time sheet all elements not prefixed with the term Automatic are variable and are dependant on the speed of the worker. (The times given for manoeuvrability are average times).
